Artist, educator, and organizer Kayla Hamilton has launched Circle O, an organization that “reimagines a dance world where Black Disabled and other multiply marginalized creatives are central and every body is worthy of care” through performance, education, and consulting. The short film above tells the deep histories of Circle O’s origins.
Sins Invalid’s School of Popular Education begins tomorrow and runs weekly through August 13.
Jess Jacklin’s debut documentary Quad Gods, out now on HBO’s Max, follows three New York men - Blake Hunt, Richard Jacobs, and Prentice Hall - who meet at Mount Sinai Hospital’s neuro-rehabilitation lab and decide to form the first fully quadriplegic e-sports team.

The Blue Description Project

In celebration of Disability Pride Month, artists Liza Sylvestre and Christopher Jones present their elastic, experimental, and expansive Blue Description Project, created in collaboration with Dr. Sarah Hayden (Voices in the Gallery). The project reanimates a 1993 artwork by Derek Jarman through newly commissioned and expansive accessibility. Following the presentation, Sylvestre and Jones will speak about the project with 2024 Whitney Biennial artist Constantina Zavitsanos and Executive Director of Visual AIDS Kyle Croft.

NAMED Advocates, Crushing Colonialism, New Disabled South, and Autistic Women and Nonbinary Network are all thrilled to co-host this special Disability Pride Month outdoor rooftop drag show extravaganza with Disabled Delight and Disability Culture Lab. Featuring a social hour, a BIPOC Disabled Marketplace with NAMED Advocates, harm reduction resources from HIPS, a set from DJ X_XTRA, and shows by NEURO COSMOS, OBERON THE DEMON, SAMSON, and THUNDERBOI TSAI.

These two sessions are meant to help bring a deeper grounding in accessibility and Disability Justice to the events, protests, meetings, and workshops that you and your groups organize. We are also hoping to create the space and opportunity for folks to build and learn from each other.
