I love setting intentions. I love when I witness others setting intentions. Feels like a horizon style. Maybe far off but also right here.
Intentions can lead to benchmarks we use to know how we’re doing. They are tools for accountability.
Here are the intentions I’m setting in stewarding this newsletter.
The practice of collecting, weaving, and publishing links about disability culture should always lift up the expertise of those who know most about the systems that maintain ableism. Queer and trans disabled BIPOC lead the movement for Disability Justice.
If I publish something false, inaccurate, misleading, or just sideways, I will publish a correction or clarification.
Alt-text will be attached to every image in this newsletter. Images that have alt-text supplied by their makers are prioritized for this newsletter.
I will be transparent about how my lived experience informs this newsletter. I am a white, disabled, Crazy, nonbinary party girl who lives on Lenape land and that informs how and what I find to put in this newsletter.
I will work with plain language and language justice magicians to expand this newsletter’s offerings.
I will use the process of publishing this newsletter to transform my own activist practice, knowing I am the only person I can change.
I will edit these intentions when I discover better practices to make this resource better.
