Happy 2nd Birthday to Us!
Well wow, y’all! We are here, steady, in the triple digit issues, doing the damn thing.
I started this project just after I left academia. I wanted a routine to keep me plugged in. Just a handful of people received issue #1 on Oct. 11, 2021. Now, we are many. I remain amazed.
As I wrote at the 1 year mark last fall: “Each week, I learn from disabled artists and organizers who share their ideas about how to be in a world that is so deeply fucked up and also so deeply beautiful.”
Today, I hope we can all let ourselves have our blessings. If you’ve made work that’s been in an issue, if you’ve sent me something to include or just a quick note to say hi, if you’ve shared on social media, if you’ve clicked through to something useful, if you’re a new reader or have been here for a while, thank you for making this a thing.
What’s Next?
More! I’ve got some ideas for some original long-form work. (To tease it: What’s going on with people prescribing art as a form of medicine? What do funding review panelists have to say when they are given total confidentiality? And more!) And I’ve got some interviews with rad people in the works.
Right now, getting the next issue out takes up all the time I’ve got. But I’m hoping that soon, I can assemble more of a team to help me make this thing run.
Congrats on two years of Crip News and your longer project counts fascinating!
Congratulations on two years! I so appreciate your work and look forward to your long form pieces.
